Paul says: “This car was purchased 4 years ago in Canada and has come a long way with the help of some good friends like Bob, Glenn,
and Roy. It’s a driver and I put about 2500 miles a year on it. I don’t have a garage so all the work is done at night in the driveway when the
kids are asleep. It’s strictly a low budget deal as I'm the only income and support the family. This has forced me to figure things out that others may
farm out to a shop. I think that makes it fun and a little more interesting because I’m learning new things all the time. It’s also relaxing
to work on something I don't need the next morning to get to work.
I also love the camaraderie at local shows and meets. Surprisingly, you don’t see too many Fairlanes and hardly any GTs.
This is great because I’m usually the only Fairlane at a show. I’ve not been to the track yet, but similar cars are doing mid
13s on the same tires, gearing, and engine setup. It’s quick, but plans for the Spring include an PerTronix electronic ignition,
FlowMaster exhaust, and Hooker headers.
Early last year (2004), we did the body work and had it painted 1967 Ford Rangoon Red (a color not offered on the Fairlane, but I like it much better
than the original metallic red). What an improvement that was over the non-factory GM white that was on it! The Mothers product line came through in a big
way to help me wet sand and buff the clear coat afterwards. Thanks to Mothers, my care really shines!”
